The time when toilet roll and pasta was a hot commodity seems to have passed, but we’ll never forget who was there in our time of need with toilet roll galore and more pasta than Lina Stores. It was our beloved zero waste shops. So we thought we would use Plastic Free July to shout out some of our sustainable friends in South London.
Starting with Gather on Bellenden Road in Peckham, where there is every type of flour you can imagine, our absolute vice in the form of dark chocolate covered ginger and a make your own peanut butter station.
Not far away in Nunhead is Bring your Own which has both BYO Household and BYO Grocery. Not to be confused with the incredible BYO that’s based out of Tooting Market and a bit of an OG for us.
Forest Hill is covered by the delightfully named Beetroot and Beans and Naked Larder is the rural barn vibes zero-waste store of your dreams if you’re near Herne Hill. A Naked Larder neighbour is Jarr Market who have an online arm if you’re looking to cut down on travel.
Heading on down to Brixton; Common Clapham has a cafe if all the zero waste shopping has got you a little peckish and Pipoca Vegan on Brixton Road will fulfil your crepe AND zero waste needs.
So South London, we really don’t have an excuse to not shop responsibly with so many beautiful stores on our doorstep.
