A PERFECT DAY IN PECKHAM

Now we may be biased having lived here for a couple of years, but we really feel like Peckham is the best place to spend a day in South London. Birthplace of John Boyega, Ashley Walters and the Trotters Peckham has quickly climbed the ranks in places to live in London. As locals who have loved it for years we’re pretty happy that people are coming round to our thinking, so we;ve rounded up a few of our favourites.

COAL ROOMS

Jump off the overground at Peckham Rye and you’re at your first stop of the day. Tucked into the side of the station with interiors to die for and coffee from our local heroes Old Spike Roastary.

PECKHAM LEVELS

The abandoned car park underneath Franks wasn’t going to stay empty for long, so it’s a good job the guys at Make Shift turned their attention to it. With members only co-working spaces, a yoga studio, a hairdressers, street food, shops and bars a plenty; you really could spend your whole day here.

BELLENDEN ROAD

No day in Peckham is complete without heading to Bellenden Road. It’s got food, drink and some of the cutest stores in South London. Starting at the Victoria and The Begging Bowl, you can head to The General Store for your groceries, Gather for zero waste shopping and pick up a delicious pizza from Made of Dough. The shops are made for perusing, with Review bookstore, D.A.Y.Boutique and Form SE15.

TELEGRAPH HILL

We’re biased we know, but Peckham has some of the best green spaces in London. Peckham Rye Park gets packed for a reason, but we tend to head a little further into Nunhead to get the views from Telegraph Hill. This little park on top of a hill (and across from Creepy Bridge) gives you a great view of the city. On the way up you can also pass El Vermut for the best vermut experience you never knew you needed and the Nunhead Gardener.

YADAS

Such a hidden gem that you might not be able to find it. Tucked away underneath the railway tracks is our favourite BYO destination – Yadas. Completely unassuming but incredibly inviting, the restaurant makes you feel like you’re at a festival and your mums front room all at the same time. With the best platters and mezze’s around and a bring your own policy, this place is such a favourite we’ve come to be regulars.

FORZA WINE

What is better to round the day off than heading to a rooftop bar. Peckham has plenty, being home to the infamous Franks Cafe we’ve kind of got used to rooftop drinking being part of our culture. This newcomer from pasta afficianodo’s Forza Win is truly spectacular. With a beautiful interior and a stunning rooftop (and a house red that makes you feel like you’re in the Amalfi Coast) this is a spectacular way to end your day.
